Many of the procedures done today by Dr. Sabharwal are new and innovative, introduced within the last ten years and include: High Intensity Focal Ultrasound (HIFU), Cryoablation of Urologic Tumors, Robotic and Laparoscopic surgery in the treatment of prostate cancer, Bladder Cancer and Kidney Surgery.
Other procedures include Extra Corporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) – the non-surgical treatment of kidney and ureteral stone disease; lasers in the management of stone, vasectomy, sexual dysfunction with the use of injectables and implants; kidney and prostate ultrasound; microwave therapy for BPH and biofeedback for incontinence. Sarat Sabharwal, MD, FACS
Dr. Sarat Sabharwal, a pioneer and expert in robotic surgery is unique in that he is one of very few urologic surgeons in the country who have extensive training in both open and minimally invasive techniques for the management of complex urologic disorders. He completed a Urology and Kidney Transplant training at University of Toledo, Medical college of Ohio. He subsequently had training in advanced Robotic surgery.
He joined University of Illinois as clinical faculty. He practiced Urology and Advanced robotic surgery in Peoria, IL since 1997. In 2013 Dr. Sabharwal joined Florida Urologic Associated in Orlando, FL. From there he continued onto opening his own practice that is now known as Health Orlando Urology in Kissimmee Florida.
Clinically, he has also been trained in High Intensity Focal Ultrasound for advance minimally invasive treatment for prostate and kidney cancer. He currently performs Robotic assisted surgery, including robotic assisted inguinal lymph node dissection, robotic assisted cystoprostatectomy with urinary diversion, and robotic RPLND.
Having done over 1,100 robotic procedures, he is a recognized leader in nervesparing and endopelvic fascia sparing techniques to improve on potency and continence outcomes after robotic prostatectomy. Dr Sabharwal is a member of the American Board of Urology, a member of Minimally invasive and Robotic Surgery and Fellow of American College of Surgeons.
